Intern - Hatchery (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is offering a summer internship at the McNenny Hatchery, where interns will engage in various hatchery operations and research projects. The role involves fish culture activities, data collection, and assisting with maintenance and research assignments.

Responsibilities
Involved in all aspects of hatchery operations, including fish culture activities such as feeding, fish inventories, and rearing unit cleanings
Stock fish into public fish waters
Perform building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
Play a key role in numerous hatchery research projects, primarily by collecting data and conducting literature reviews
Assist with data analysis and manuscript preparation
May be assigned lead responsibilities on a specific research project
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
