Principal Mission Engineer

They are seeking a skilled Principal Mission Engineer to lead mission engineering efforts across complex naval systems, ensuring alignment with program objectives and operational requirements.

Responsibilities
Lead mission engineering efforts across complex naval systems including Combat Systems Cybersecurity, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class, AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems, DDG-1000 Zumwalt class, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), and integrated weapon/sensor systems
Coordinate and oversee development activities associated with engineering systems and mission capabilities, ensuring alignment with program objectives and operational requirements
Conduct detailed and independent systems engineering analysis including system-level and functional requirements development, verification planning, and traceability in support of mission-critical initiatives
Utilize tools such as IBM Rational DOORS or DOORS Next Generation to manage and maintain robust requirements baselines, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the development lifecycle
Lead the development and documentation of Functional Area Assessments (FAA) and provide key input into Mission Area Assessments (MAA) to evaluate and prioritize mission needs, capability gaps, and potential technology solutions
Collaborate with cross-discipline engineering and program management teams to integrate mission requirements into system architecture and technical planning
Participate in technical working groups, configuration control boards, and stakeholder review sessions to present system engineering products and receive critical feedback
Support risk identification, analysis, and mitigation planning associated with mission capability development and integration
Ensure all mission engineering and system development activities comply with applicable Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition, cybersecurity, and engineering standards
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering processes, mission planning methodologies, and capability integration strategies
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or four (4) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines of the SOW
Fifteen (15) years of experience with emphasis in one or more of the following: Combat Systems Cyber Security, Ships Self Defense System, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class, AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems, DDG-1000 Zumwalt class destroyer, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense and Weapon/Sensor Combat Systems
Coordinating development activities associated with engineering systems, capabilities, and activities
Conducting detailed and complex system engineering independently to include demonstrated experience in functional and system level requirements analysis, requirements generation and technical community review
Experience in Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirement System (DOORS) or the follow on DOORS Next system
Extensive experience in developing Functional Area Assessments (FAA) and working with Mission Area Assessments (MAA) in relation to engineering tasks
Top Secret Clearance required
