Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering
Union College is inviting applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering, starting September 1, 2026. The role focuses on teaching and research in Civil Engineering, particularly in Structural Engineering, and includes responsibilities such as curriculum development and involvement in the ABET accreditation process.

Teach courses in the curriculum as appropriate, including core classes and upper-level courses such as the fundamental theory of structure, as well as electives
Teach at least one course annually to non-engineers ideally as part of the College’s new Complex Questions/Global Challenges and Social Justice common curriculum
Be heavily involved in the ABET accreditation process which includes opportunities for curriculum development and assessment
Advance a research program at Union College that involves undergraduates
Explore joint programming possibilities with departments and programs in the humanities and social sciences
Qualification
Required
Earned Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering
Expertise in the area of structural engineering
Demonstrated potential to advance a research program at Union College that involves undergraduates
Detail an interest, understanding, and commitment to the support and development of all students through education, research, and/or service
Preferred
Professional licensure (P.E) in Civil Engineering
Demonstrated interest in undergraduate teaching
