Responsibilities

Verify physician orders and patient procedures for accuracy
Use radiology information systems to support patient care
Explain procedures to patients and ensure understanding
Independently operate ultrasound equipment per protocol
Assist radiologists during guided procedures
Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission
Complete quality control procedures and corrective actions as needed
Support departmental operations (inventory, scheduling, equipment maintenance)
Adapt patient interactions to diverse populations with professionalism and privacy
Perform additional related duties as assigned

Registered Diagnostic Medical SonographerCertification in AbdominalOB-Gyn UltrasoundDiagnostic Medical Sonography trainingImaging systemsAbdominal anatomyPatient-care skillsBasic Life Support (BLS)Effective communication skillsOrganizational skills

Required

Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Minimum 2 years of sonographer experience
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
Certification in Abdominal and OB-Gyn Ultrasound
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Advanced certifications in specialty areas (as required by facility)
Proficiency in computers, imaging systems, and web-based application
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of abdominal anatomy (liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, pancreas) and related pathology
Ability to work flexible schedules (24/7, weekends, holidays, on-call)
Strong organizational and patient-care skills
