Responsibilities

Serve as a senior strategic partner to the Head of Audience Strategy, helping define and operationalize audience growth priorities across the newsroom
Lead a cross-functional portfolio spanning analytics, insights, training, experimentation and content strategy
Guide and manage a team focused on delivering actionable analysis, experimentation frameworks and best practices across desks and story formats
Oversee platform and article health initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve performance across the homepage, social media, search and emerging platforms
Partner with editorial, product, data and engineering teams to improve newsroom tools and workflows that support data-informed decision-making
Design and oversee training programs to ensure all newsroom staff are equipped to make strategic, data-informed choices in their work
Develop and lead newsroom-wide growth experiments and special projects aimed at reaching and engaging new audiences
Create and maintain frameworks for assessing coverage performance and aligning content strategy to audience opportunity
Communicate insights and strategy clearly to a range of stakeholders, including newsroom leadership, reporters, editors and technical partners

Required

10+ years of relevant experience in audience development, analytics or content strategy
Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies
Proficiency in SQL, Python and data visualization tools; experience working with large datasets to extract insights that drive editorial decision-making
Familiarity with data infrastructure and reporting environments (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics); ability to partner with technical teams to improve data pipelines, dashboards and newsroom tooling
Strong track record of managing teams and cross-functional projects
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with newsroom culture and editorial workflows; direct newsroom experience strongly preferred
