Mechanical Engineer - Motion Control (Part-Time)

Accuride International Inc is a recognized worldwide brand specializing in the innovative design and manufacture of sliding hardware. They are currently seeking a Part Time Mechanical Engineer focused on Motion Control and Power Transmission, who will be responsible for preparing technical drawings, collaborating with R&D engineers, supporting prototype development, and contributing to new platform motor designs.

Responsibilities

Prepare technical drawings and detailed CAD models using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor
Collaborate with R&D engineers and cross-functional teams to create, refine, and iterate CAD models during the design and prototype phases
Support prototype development by assisting in design feasibility studies and cost analysis, participating in hands-on testing of prototypes, and coordinating with shop personnel for test setups and execution
Contribute to the development and optimization of new platform motor designs and custom motion control solutions tailored to customer specifications
Provide Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) feedback to engineering teams
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design-related issues
Design and modify a range of automated test equipment, incorporating electrical schematics, mechanical CAD, and firmware
Perform quality inspections and collect/record relevant data to support design improvement and compliance efforts

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Controls, Robotics, or Computer Science
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in Motion Control and Power Transmission
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Skilled in CAD tools such as SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment

Preferred

Experience with programming languages or tools such as LabVIEW, C++, C#, MATLAB, Visual Basic, or Arduino preferred
Familiarity with automated test and control systems and working knowledge of SQL/MySQL databases preferred
Experience with PID tuning and motor synchronization preferred
