Responsibilities

Perform cytogenetics processing: sample set-up, harvesting, dropping, banding, FISH slide prep, probing, and scanning

Analyze slides (FISH and chromosome), image, and complete karyotyping

Summarize test results, write karyotypes/FISH nomenclature, and prepare case reports for review

Review test requisitions for case analysis and culture setup

Identify normal vs. abnormal test results; troubleshoot/improve procedures as needed

Independently complete lab tasks and projects, including new technology development

Mentor and support Cytogenetic Technologist I staff to ensure standards are met

Maintain quality control records

Qualification

ASCP in CytogeneticsFlorida Clinical Cytogenetics LicenseClinical cytogenetics experience’s Degree in Biological SciencesChromosome identificationFISH analysisISCNCase review

Required

ASCP in Cytogenetics (CG)

Florida Clinical Cytogenetics License

Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or related field

4 years of clinical cytogenetics experience in a CLIA-certified lab

Preferred

Proficiency in chromosome identification
