Methodist and University Hospital-Patient Care Intern (PCI) Program
Indiana University Health is looking for passionate, current nursing students to join their team and collaborate with top medical professionals at their Adult Academic Health Centers. The Patient Care Intern (PCI) works under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) as a non-licensed team member, providing care to designated patients and supporting the patient care team.

Continuous observation including suicide prevention
Ensuring the patient's surroundings are clean and orderly
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma/GED is required
Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience
Requires PCIs to be actively enrolled in an accredited nursing education program, with at least one semester of student nursing completed. This program must be accredited by a national organization such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
Requires that all candidates have completed Nursing Fundamentals in nursing school
Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served
Requires ability to apply the organization's personnel policies and procedures
Requires up to date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities
Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills
Requires ability to maintain concentration when subjected to frequent and varied interruptions and variable noise levels
Requires ability to organize tasks and attend to details
Requires knowledge of procedures; equipment; software and standards related to patient care activities that non-licensed role perform (i.e.. PCI, PCA, PCR)
Requires ability to perform physically demanding, repetitious movements
Requires knowledge of principles of infection control
