In the role of Civil Engineer Aviation Intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on airfield infrastructure projects, assist in design and construction efforts, and collaborate with project teams.

Responsibilities
Gain hands-on experience working on active airfield infrastructure projects, such as taxiways, runways, aprons, and drainage systems
Support design and construction efforts in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) AA Advisory Circulars and airport engineering standards
Assist in preparing engineering drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports related to airfield improvements
Participate in site visits and field inspections to observe construction activities and verify compliance with design specifications
Collaborate with project teams, including recent graduates and senior engineers, through HDR’s young professionals program
Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer or project manager
Contribute to other duties as needed to support the airfield design team
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
Attention to detail
Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
Basic Microsoft Office skills
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred
Completion of at least two years toward a Civil Engineering related degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Exposure to or coursework in transportation, pavement design, stormwater management, or aviation planning is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preference given to local candidates or those with a demonstrated interest in aviation infrastructure
