Lanier Technical College is conducting a search for a full-time Electrical Utility Technology Instructor for its Hall and Barrow campus locations. The role involves providing instruction for Electrical Utility Technology programs, developing course materials, evaluating student progress, and ensuring compliance with program certification requirements.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, will provide instruction for our Electrical Utility Technology degree, diploma and certificate programs
This includes foundational courses in electrical theory and power as well as courses that support electrical utilities, such as metering, substations, power distribution, and power plants
Courses are taught primarily at the Hall County campus in Gainesville, GA; however, some classes may also be taught at the Winder-Barrow campus in Winder, GA
Classes are scheduled M-TH and are delivered onsite, online and hybrid formats
Develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives
Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Engineering Technology and Electrical Utility Technology courses
Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives
Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests
Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate
Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports
Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences
Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area
Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts
Work with director to coordinate scheduling and training of adjunct instructors
Conducts bi-annual industry advisory board meetings
Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor

Required

Master's degree in electrical engineering, engineering technology, or closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university, with appropriate coursework that demonstrates competencies in specific course content
Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting agencies
Must have at least three years of electrical utility or closely related work experience
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and professional attire
Ability to interpret and create electrical prints and schematics
Ability to apply math concepts in teaching electrical theorems
Ability to teach the importance of safety policies and procedures
Ability to work flexible hours, and juggle multiple & competing priorities
Ability to supervise students in the classroom and lab
Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans
Ability to direct and assess students' progress in achieving required competencies
Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for license agency, accreditation agencies, and the college
Familiar with the use of online teaching platforms such as Backboard or Canvas
Familiar with the use of basic electronic test equipment
Ability to teach courses online, onsite, or hybrid
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Ability to teach courses and instruct hands-on labs areas that include: Metering, Substations, Power Plants, Distribution Engineering, Prints and schematics, AC Circuits, DC Circuits, Power

Preferred

Bilingual (Spanish/English) language skills
More than three (3) years of electrical utility or closely related work experience
Prior teaching experience in a postsecondary educational environment
