Responsibilities
Design, model, and optimize enterprise databases supporting EHRM operations, data migration, and integration
Oversee the development and maintenance of database architectures, schemas, and stored procedures for large-scale health information systems
Ensure database solutions meet VA standards for interoperability, scalability, and performance
Implement data security, encryption, and access control measures in alignment with VA Directive 6500, HIPAA, and NIST standards
Collaborate with system engineers, solution architects, and developers to support integration across VA and DoD systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
10+ years of database design/architecture experience with large enterprise or healthcare systems
Expertise in Oracle, SQL Server, or comparable RDBMS platforms
Deep knowledge of data modeling, replication, high availability, and performance tuning
Experience with VA or federal IT compliance standards (NIST SP 800-53, FIPS, HIPAA)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / Moderate Risk clearance
Preferred
Experience working with Cerner (Oracle Health) electronic health record solutions and prior involvement with the VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program is strongly preferred
