Tyler Union- Senior Project Engineer

Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of ductile iron fittings and is looking for a Senior Project Engineer for its Anniston facility. The role involves managing complex engineering projects focusing on process improvement, equipment upgrades, and new technology implementation while promoting safety and compliance within the organization.

Responsibilities

Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors
Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program
Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques
Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues
Develop and oversee project plans, budget proposals, risk assessments, and timelines from concept through deployment
Oversee technical project execution: perform design reviews, verify technical accuracy, and uphold quality assurance standards
Foster agile processes continuously improve team efficiency and workflow
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—product management, QA, operations—to align engineering goals with business objectives
Advocate to secure needed resources, facilitate capital investment proposals, and represent engineering perspectives to leadership and stakeholders
Effective Management of CAPEX & OPEX by applying comprehensive approach to budgeting, planning, and financial management of projects
Track the return on investment (ROI) of capital assets more accurately and assess the efficiency of operational spending, adjusting strategies accordingly
Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
Develop and maintain project documentation including scope, schedules, budgets, and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
Evaluate and integrate new technologies and automation systems
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and interns
Support capital expenditure planning and justification

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field (Master's preferred)
Proven experience (Minimum of five years) in engineering roles, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities
Strong technical foundation—familiarity with engineering principles, project management methodologies, and quality standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills—capable of motivating teams and collaborating effectively across functions
Demonstrated project and resource management experience, including budgeting, risk analysis, and milestone tracking
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and project management tools
Certification PMP certification or equivalent project management training is desirable

Preferred

Foundry or heavy manufacturing experience preferred
