Responsibilities

Utilize the Product Life Cycle (PLC) process to manage new products from cradle-to-grave

Manage items and product configurations at all levels and coordinate the development of Bill of Material (BOM) using the Arena PLM tool

Prepare and submit Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) for approval to release design changes to Operations

Transmit released part design changes and Technical Data Packages (TDP’s) to the Technical Data Center for use by Operations, Finance and Quality stakeholders

Provide Manufacturing BOMs to Finance for entry into the JDE ERP system

Develop timelines for Product Engineering tasks and inform management of performance against plan as part of the PLC process

Act as technical resource for all enquiries coming from Business Development or Program Management in matters related to products

Evaluate, document, and implement potential design and process changes to improve the PLC process

Coordinate and communicate development schedules or design issues throughout the team continuously

Work in concert with the product design engineers to ensure technical documentation meets requirements

Review and resolve issues associated with manufacturing, quality, and internal customer expectations

Additional responsibilities as needed to support the team and company goals

Act as PM for projects related to product changes and/or updates required by component obsolescence, component changes, manufacturing improvements, etc. for released products (in Production lifecycle)

Communicate between the project team and the stakeholders

Act as PM with other departments within the company to ensure others have the necessary information required to meet the projects requirements

Follow-up actions between progress review meetings

Handle administrative management tasks

Participate into the Phase Gate and PLC processes and overall commercial strategy

Required

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Relevant Experience in Change Management (ECR, ECO)

Strong ability to work with multiple products/projects and track product life cycle from planning through launch

Strong interpersonal relationship and leadership skills

Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications / technical requirements

Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles

Highly motivated problem solver with meticulous attention to detail

Responsiveness to external and internal customers and a can-do, positive attitude are a must

Strong English language, verbal communication, and writing skills required

Experience working in a product development environment or related engineering role preferred

License to practice as a Professional Engineer is considered an asset

Experience and understanding of one or several of the following areas is considered an asset: product development cycle in a defense, automotive, or industrial environment, lithium energy storage, power and electronics, battery energy storage systems (BESS), quality assurance protocols, design-to-cost methodology, military or commercial standards, proof-of-compliance, and safety testing

Strong knowledge of QMS, ISO, industry standards, military or commercial standards, and associated procedures is considered an asset
