Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering (Drilling Engineering)
Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is seeking an Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering (Drilling Engineering) to join their faculty starting Fall 2026. The role involves building an independent research program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and participating in accreditation activities, all while contributing to the university’s mission of student success and research excellence.

Responsibilities
Building an independent externally-funded research program to raise the research profile of the School of Engineering
Teaching undergraduate and future graduate courses
Being an active faculty member
Participation in ABET accreditation activities, including the assessment and evaluation of student outcomes
Other service responsibilities as needed by the School of Engineering including recruitment efforts and initiatives
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. Degree in Petroleum Engineering, or a closely-related discipline
Ability to mentor and advise students working on Senior Design projects and research activities
Demonstrated experience in any drilling engineering area such as drilling and cementing, well planning and design, well control, drilling fluids, drilling optimization, wellbore integrity, and drilling analytics and automation
Potential to publish research in highly ranked venues and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations
Ability to teach all drilling engineering courses in the curriculum
