They are seeking an entry-level Laboratory Assistant to join their Gravimetrics team, responsible for preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities
After appropriate training, independently prepares media for analysis according to SGS’ SOPs, using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies
Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of preparation instruments/equipment
Inputs and maintains technical information, as needed, to support the laboratory functions/operations
Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable
Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
Performs all required quality verifications, ensuring best quality
Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and consumables, ensuring appropriate levels, at all times
Ensures all chemicals are labelled appropriately, required personal protective equipment is worn consistently, and all safety precautions are followed
Performs other duties as required
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent and prior general working experience
Proficient English language skills
Basic mathematical and reasoning skills
Basic computer skills
Ability to lift/carry/push or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis
Preferred
1-2 years of laboratory experience
