Superintendent Assistant

Responsibilities
Assist in planning and executing daily maintenance activities for the golf course, including mowing, watering, fertilization, and aeration
Oversee the care and conditioning of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscape areas
Supervise and schedule the grounds crew to ensure optimal workflow
Provide training on safe equipment operation and proper maintenance techniques
Monitor crew performance and assist with evaluations
Assist in implementing agronomic programs, including fertilization schedules, pest control, and cultural practices
Scout for turf diseases, insects, and other issues, making recommendations for solutions
Ensure the safe and proper application of pesticides and fertilizers in compliance with regulations
Monitor and operate the golf course irrigation system to maintain optimal turf health
Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining irrigation systems and components
Inspect and maintain all golf course equipment and tools
Coordinate with the equipment technician to ensure all machinery operates efficiently
Assist in construction, renovation, and repair projects on the golf course and related facilities
Maintain landscaping and clubhouse grounds as required
Enforce safety standards for staff and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Document chemical usage and ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials
Ensure the golf course and practice facilities are in top playing condition daily
Assist in responding to member feedback regarding course conditions and playability
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in golf course maintenance or turf management
Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including mowing techniques, turf diseases, and pest management
Experience with irrigation systems (troubleshooting and repair)
Ability to operate and maintain various types of golf course equipment
Understanding of chemical applications, calibration, and safety practices
Familiarity with environmental and regulatory compliance in turf management
Valid Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment
Valid driver's license
Preferred
Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field
Previous supervisory experience
