Senior Accountant
Synergy Search is a specialized national search firm focusing on accounting, finance, and human resources. They are seeking a Senior Accountant for a growing PE-Backed healthcare company to manage financial operations, ensure accuracy of financial information, and support junior accounting staff.
Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Conduct regular financial reviews to ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory standards
Prepare and present financial reports to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations
Collaborate with department heads and management to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis
Identify areas of potential cost savings or revenue enhancement and make appropriate recommendations
Oversee and perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate and timely completion
Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring proper documentation and supporting schedules
Maintain fixed asset records and facilitate depreciation calculations
Assist in the preparation of tax returns and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations, such as HIPAA and other relevant guidelines
Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and healthcare regulations, implementing necessary updates and changes
Support internal and external audits by providing requested financial information and documentation
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth and development
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback
Train and mentor junior accountants, assisting them in understanding accounting principles and procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in accounting, with a focus on healthcare or a related industry
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their application in the healthcare sector
Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools for financial analysis
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is preferred
