Senior Staff Process Development Engineer

Responsibilities

You will lead the development and optimization of additive thin-film coating processes for applying sensitive chemical formulations onto flexible substrates
You will evaluate and implement advanced coating technologies such as slot-die, jet/contact dispensing, and other related methods
You will design lab-scale coating processes that have a pathway towards high-volume manufacturing environments
You will establish metrology and process control strategies to ensure coating uniformity, controlled coating thickness, and minimal material waste
You will collaborate cross-functionally with formulation scientists, equipment engineers, and sensor development teams to ensure robust process integration
You will troubleshoot coating defects and drive continuous improvement in yield, throughput, and material utilization
You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to Dexcom’s coating technology roadmap
You will ensure coating processes meet regulatory standards and support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ)

Required

Deep expertise in thin-film coating technologies, including slot-die, contact, and/or jet dispensing
Skilled in fluid dynamics, rheology, and surface science as applied to coating processes
Hands-on experience with coating equipment setup, tuning, and troubleshooting
Proficiency in scaling processes to high-volume manufacturing and integrating with production systems
Familiarity with ISO 13485 and FDA GMP requirements for regulated manufacturing environments
Strong analytical skills and use of data-driven approaches to optimize process performance
Excellent communicator and collaborator, able to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor others
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 13+ years related experience or a Master's degree and 8+ years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 5+ years of experience
