Associate Fabrication Engineer

They are seeking an Associate Fabrication Engineer to participate in an 18-month rotational program that will provide hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication, covering key areas such as shop floor operations, production control, and estimating/purchasing.

Responsibilities

Shadow shop supervisors and team leads to understand workflow

Monitor safety, quality, and productivity on fabrication lines

Support equipment troubleshooting and process improvements

Assist in implementing lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives

Production reporting and analysis

Develop and monitor production schedules

Track work orders, shop loading, and throughput

Coordinate with supervisors to minimize bottlenecks

Utilize ERP/MRP systems Tekla and Spectrum

Equipment programming

Assist estimators with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation

Develop cost models for fabrication projects

Source vendors, negotiate pricing, and issue POs

Collaborate with project teams to align procurement with schedules

Required

Must have a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in one of the following disciplines: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Civil/Structural Engineering

Experience in steel fabrication or manufacturing is a plus but not a requirement

Must be a critical thinker and problem solver

Must be available to work in a high-paced, dynamic work environment
