Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer Intern

The Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer Intern will contribute to materials characterization projects, support production processes, and help enhance the performance and reliability of materials used in the rocket's development.

Responsibilities

Contribute to materials characterization projects to better understand and improve upon Relativity’s AM processes
Quantify materials and NDE properties of new additive manufacturing technologies and inform the impact of material microstructure on properties
Support production of additive hardware and assess whether existing materials/ NDE work necessitates a process change
Help build Relativity’s next generation, fully reusable rocket, Terran-R

Required

Finishing your degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline, with exposure to the fundamentals of Materials Science and/or Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)
Experience with materials characterization, including metallography, electron microscopy, mechanical testing, optical microscopy, non-destructive evaluation, etc
Experience with data science and computational materials approaches, especially applied to materials data management and design of materials
Self-starter with the ability to wear multiple hats, solve problems, and develop technical skills utilizing a hands-on approach

Preferred

Completed or in process undergraduate or graduate coursework in Materials Science and/ or Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)
Familiarity with aluminums, Ni-based superalloys, stainless steels, titaniums, aluminum-bronzes, and copper-nickels, HSLA steels
Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies, specifically metal AM technologies including WAAM, DED, L-PBF, etc
Hands-on experience with welding or NDE
