Manufacturing Engineering Intern - CNC Machining

Relativity Space is building rockets for today's and tomorrow's needs, focusing on their Terran R vehicle to meet the demand for launch capacity. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will lead projects to enhance CNC machining processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document best practices for rocket engine hardware production.

Responsibilities

Lead projects that support machining processes, including introducing new technologies, new processes, and / or new methods
Participate in time studies, tool selection, and fixture design to enhance machining performance and reduce cycle times
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, and machinist, programmers) to resolve manufacturing issues and implement process improvements
Document process parameters, best practices, and continuous improvement efforts to support traceability and production scalability for rocket engine hardware

Required

Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering with a strong interest in CNC machining and precision manufacturing
Familiar with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Siemens NX, Mastercam, or Fusion 360) and basic machining principles
Detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process optimization
Eager to learn and contribute in a collaborative aerospace manufacturing environment

Preferred

Prior hands-on experience with CNC machines, machining labs, or manufacturing co-ops/internships
Exposure to aerospace materials, processes, and quality systems
Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and ability to read technical drawings
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma tools, or continuous improvement methodologies
