Materials Characterization Engineer Intern
Relativity Space is building rockets to meet today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. They are seeking a Materials Characterization Engineer Intern to conduct hands-on materials characterization projects and assist in the development of new methods to support their Terran R vehicle.

Responsibilities
Conduct hands-on materials characterization projects to better understand and improve Relativity's characterization methods and materials
Perform and learn a wide range of characterization techniques across the MET Lab including mechanical testing, metallography, SEM/EDS, thermal analysis, chemical analysis, etc
Assist in development and validation of new characterization methods to support Terran R and R&D across the company
Collaborate across engineering and technician teams to complete projects and communicate results
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a degree in Materials Science & Engineering or similar
Prior experience demonstrating technical understanding and problem-solving capability
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects, communicate effectively, and connect individual work to an overall team objective
Preferred
Experience with materials characterization techniques including mechanical testing, metallography, SEM/EDS, thermal analysis, chemical analysis, etc
Familiarity with aerospace alloy systems, including aluminum, nickel, steel, titanium, etc
Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies, specifically metal AM technologies including DED, L-PBF, etc
Familiarity with common metals processing techniques, including forming, casting, welding, heat treating, coating, etc
