Responsibilities

Support in-office and field activities primarily associated with solid waste landfill and transfer station facilities
Engineering tasks such as researching sites’ histories, tabulating laboratory and field test data, compiling technical reports
Supporting various design efforts like stormwater management system design, leachate generation modeling, and landfill gas generation
Support AutoCAD designs depending on AutoCAD experience
Observation and logging of geotechnical borings and test pits
Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) tasks such as monitoring and documenting landfill cell, cap, and gas collection system construction
Use of equipment for landfill air quality monitoring
Interact and communicate with CEC office and field staff, clients, and contractors
Acquire practical experience applying knowledge from college courses
Learn from industry experts
Collaborate with teams across functional groups and locations
Develop a robust professional network through social events and interactive activities
Collaborate closely with a mentor in your discipline to tackle real-world challenges
Participate in workshops to help foster interpersonal skills within the workplace

Required

Current enrollment in an undergraduate Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering program
Ability to effectively communicate with people by talking face-to-face and by email
Have organizational skills
Ability to write daily reports
Able to use Excel Spreadsheets to prepare calculations and analyze data
Willing and able to work in the field
Have a valid driver's license
