Compliance Test Engineer, Grid Interoperability

Responsibilities

Perform grid code and product safety type testing. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot the EUT, review testing scope and pass/fail criteria with NRTLs
Setup test configuration hardware and firmware, post process test results and submit results to certification body
Propose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing and certification process
Create configuration file for each country/utility to meet the local grid code requirement
Write Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing grid and/or safety compliance requirements
Support product registrations and permitting applications
Research new market entry requirements
Represent Tesla on code committee in renewable energy industry and feed upcoming requirements to internal stakeholders for early adoption
Serve as an expert resource for the compliance test engineers
Work with NRTLs to achieve product compliance target

Qualification

Required

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
Experience in renewable energy systems certification process
Experienced in grid interactive and grid support standards
Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards
Strong lab/test/data analysis/troubleshooting/reporting skills
Proven track record in renewable product certifications
Highly experienced in grid interaction/support codes and standards
Experience with test equipment, such as Yokogawa, Dewetron or other data acquisition and analyzer tools, grid simulator, RLC load bank and communication interfaces
Fluent in English
