Network Engineer Internship (Summer 2026)

Citizens is seeking interns for their Enterprise Technology & Security Summer Internship Program, specifically for the Network Engineer track. Interns will collaborate with Network Engineering teams to maintain secure connectivity solutions, monitor network performance, and troubleshoot issues while gaining hands-on experience in cloud services and network engineering.

Responsibilities

Help maintain and ensure the widespread availability of secure connectivity solutions
Identify and document key network performance trends and patterns; monitoring network diagnostics
Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and software engineers to plan network and infrastructure related projects
Assist with reexamining firewalls, proxy gateways and other network security components
Troubleshooting network availability and accessibility issues as they arise

Required

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or other technology-related degree
Expected graduation date of May 2027
Minimum GPA 3.0
Solid understanding of one or more of the following programming languages, frameworks, libraries and data formats: Java, JavaScript, C, Python, .Net, Node, SQL
Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment; good interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred

Professional or academic exposure to cloud network solutions
Cyber security coursework preferred
Knowledge of network monitoring solutions such as Nagios/Cacti, MRTG, and Smokeping preferred
Knowledge of VMWare ESX and Linux technologies preferred
