Program Manager, Food Processing Engineering

Responsibilities
Manage, lead, and participate in all FAPC client engineering service activities with food & value-added agricultural businesses in Oklahoma at FAPC and in client manufacturing plants
Manage, lead, and participate in internal and external workshops and training session services relating to process flow, equipment selection and layout, design of facilities, safety and sanitation compliance, and operational output documentation
Manage, lead, and participate in mentoring engineering technology, and plant layout and design for food business leadership
Manage, lead, and participate in food industry client service programs in food safety and 3rd Party Audit GFSI platforms
Lead and participate in any food industry client engineering programs as needed, including assisting in hosting clients in trade shows and small-scale manufacturing at FAPC
Write and publish Fact Sheets on recurring engineering service/technology themes, targeting FAPC clients
Offer/facilitate continuing credit courses/workshops in food engineering topics and related disciplines for Oklahoma’s P.E.s
Cooperate with undergraduate capstone classes requiring industry sponsors, food engineering input, and mentor participating students
Guest lectures and support of classroom and laboratory activities involving food process engineering
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's in Agricultural Engineering, Food Processing Engineering, Food Technology, Food Science, or closely Related Field. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
5 Years of experience in operational food processing engineering
Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification
Eligible to apply for, obtain, or already possess the Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Oklahoma
Ability to engage industry personnel, including management, sales teams, and line personnel
Understand food business management, food preparation, equipment design and current food manufacturing practices, food law, regulatory agency compliance, customer specifications, and apply them to everyday food manufacturing situations
See and understand issues and difficulties in food manufacturing, food packaging, inventory control, manufacturing accountability, quality manufacturing, and find, implement, and disseminate solutions to solve them
Strong computer and word processing skills
Strong organizational skills, competency to write project reports on manufacturing technology, and final project reports
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students working on research and applied projects with components of food process engineering that are important to Oklahoma food processors
Strong ability for oral expression, verbal defense of findings, and defense of actions
Work alongside faculty and other staff members to assist with teaching, outreach, and research problems important to Oklahoma food processors
Participate and lead FAPC tours and campus visits for food industry personnel and other visitors
Understand and create basic mechanical and facility layout drawings using software packages like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SmartDraw, or Visio
Preferred
Master's in Agricultural Engineering, Food Processing Engineering, Food Technology, Food Science, closely Related Field or MBA
5 Years of experience in operational food processing engineering
Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification
Eligible to apply for, obtain, or already possess the Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Oklahoma
P.E. License in Oklahoma or by State or Comity
Certification by a third-party food safety body such as a GFSI certifying platform, or an ISO certifying platform
A working knowledge of drafting software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, SmartDraw, or VISIO
