Archaeological Field Tech
William & Mary Libraries is home to the Center for Archaeological Research, which offers archaeological consulting and research services. The Archaeological Field Technician will conduct field surveys, site evaluations, and data recovery excavations under the supervision of senior staff.
Higher Education
Responsibilities
Excavates and researches as directed by CAR supervisory staff
Responsible for maintaining proper field and/or site documentation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, American Studies, History, or related field, as required by specific grant
Completion of archaeological field school or equivalent work experience with archaeological fieldwork
Working knowledge of standard archaeological survey and excavation methods
Demonstrated attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Experience with archaeological field survey, evaluation, and data recovery projects in the context of cultural resource management
Experience with archaeological field work and resources in Virginia and neighboring states
Broad familiarity with material culture of Mid-Atlantic region
