Start in 2026 SpringThe Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) is seeking two Information Technology (I.T.) Interns for their Information Technology Department. The IT Interns will collaborate with the IT team on business transformation projects and cybersecurity improvements while developing IT skills and performing data analysis.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain software, in collaboration with BWL IT developers
Configure network devices, in collaboration with BWL IT server and network technicians
Perform project coordination tasks, in collaboration with BWL IT PMO. Mitigate cybersecurity risks, as directed
Gather data and perform data analysis, as directed
Follow defined BWL IT standards and IT industry best practices, as directed
Utilizes standard office software (i.e., spreadsheet, word-processing, database) and SAP
Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear personal protective equipment for all field work
Attends training and safety awareness and/or skills improvement as required by the BWL or government agency such as MIOSHA
Expected to comply with all BWL policies and work rules
Predictable and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Must be enrolled in an accredited educational institution in a program with a focus of Information Technology with junior or senior status during the summer of 2026
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Must successfully complete a background check, a substance screening and a physical (if applicable)
