Mid LevelKCCI-TV, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, is seeking an experienced Meteorologist who can effectively communicate weather information to the audience. The role involves providing accurate forecasts, delivering urgent weather updates during severe events, and utilizing technology to create engaging weather stories.
Responsibilities
Get our viewers ready with accurate, compelling, and understandable weather forecasts
Will provide urgent, immediate weather information before and during severe weather events
Can simultaneously provide content across TV and digital platforms
Will use all the technology available to us, to tell an intriguing weather story
Will be deployed in the field during weather events
Gather information and summarize facts and content for broadcast
Qualification
Required
Professional or schooling on-air experience handling breaking news and severe weather coverage
In-depth knowledge of weather science and forecasting
Knowledgeable about how to interpret and translate high-powered radar data
Able to distill complicated weather science and forecasting into easy-to-digest information for viewers
Experience with common television weather systems
Experience with live field reporting on weather and other topics
Can work in all weather conditions, work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends
Related military experience will be considered
Preferred
NWA and CBM seals are a plus
