Residential Assistant Men's Road to Recovery FT Evenings

Responsibilities
Provide orientation of clients into the community
Conduct tour of the facility and make introductions
Problem solve and provide other support to clients as needed
Serve as a role model
Assist all new clients with connecting to a Peer Mentor and introduce them to the Lead Peer
Assist in new client admissions
Review rules and regulations, issue linens, assign bedrooms, sign appropriate releases, gather birth certificates and social security cards, IDs etc., introduce them to the case manager, nurse, their assigned clinician, management, and other staff as appropriate
Abide by all confidentiality standards and policies: HIPAA and 42CFR enforced
Assist with the supervision of AA/NA meetings and recreational activities
Check daily client details and follow through on any unsatisfactory performance
Assign daily client housekeeping assignments and assist clients in performing necessary housekeeping tasks
Transport clients to appointments with appropriate social service agencies; i.e. doctors, dentists, GPA, etc
Maintain an inventory of linens
Conduct toxicology testing and breathalyzer for all clients as instructed by management and documented as appropriate
Ensure a safe, clean and healthy living environment with HIPAA and best practices standards as a priority
Assist in conducting monthly/quarterly fire drills and send in reports
Monitor client whereabouts during fire drills or emergencies
Report any deficiencies to manager
Ensure medication procedures are followed
Ensure clients are present at designated times to take prescribed medications
Ensure information is logged and documented appropriately and accurately
Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services (HIS) and other Center requirements
Document all notable client encounters in EPIC in the format of a quick note or group notes
Email staff members about client issues and/or concerns as appropriate
Complete daily activity logs
Develop and implement a plan of care with ongoing consumer input
Practice thorough and timely communication with client clinicians and case manager for client-related issues as appropriate
Monitor confidentiality in accordance with Center policy and legal requirements
Follow required office procedures in a cooperative manner
Initiate and process incident reports as per Center guidelines
Adhere to Infection Control protocols
Adhere to Weapons and Contraband protocols during admission, discharges, and upon client return for the community
Ability to carefully and accurately administer client medications per the programs polices and protocols
Must be comfortable participating in sample collection for toxicology reports
Ability to read and transpose toxicology screen results received from the lab into program documentation and communicate issues to the clinician/nurse
Maintain cooperative relationships with clients, other employees and the public
Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences
Other duties may be assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Must have awareness of the general trends in confronting the problems of substance abuse
Must be able to obtain medication room clearance within 3 month of being hired: have a baseline understanding of medication protocol per TPC policy, understand and adhere to medication disposal policy, and basic safety precaution of handling medication in a residential setting
Must have valid driver's license and insured auto
Must be able to work well with a broad spectrum of people
Must be well organized
Ability to relate comfortably with clients and develop and maintain the client's confidence and cooperation; function as a team member, and to respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations
Preferred
Advanced education preferred
Experience working with a substance abuse population is strongly preferred
Bilingual Spanish preferred
