Responsibilities

Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile tray for each procedure
Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring
Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings
Assists physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or all interventional procedures
Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested. Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested
Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes all hemodynamic data assembled during the procedure, including computerized ventriculography data and valve area
Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings
Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patients’ images and hemodynamic records
Assists with vascular access, sheath removal and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site
Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS)
Assists in management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure
Operates equipment safely: Prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary
Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site
Recognizes and interprets cardiac arrhythmias
Assists with maintenance, calibration and routine periodic evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment
Participates in the catheterization lab on call responsibilities as per the organizational policy and procedure
Active participant in quality and performance improvement initiatives
Adhere, monitor and support radiation safety standards per the organization's policy and procedure

Required

High School Diploma
Graduate from an accredited Cardiovascular or Radiology Technology program
Current RCIS certification or RAD license
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
Certified/Licensed CVT or RT in NJ

Preferred

Associates or Bachelor's Degree in health science field
Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology
Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques
