Press Assistant - NIGHT SHIFT

TOPPAN Packaging Americas is seeking a Press Assistant for their night shift operations. The role involves assisting the Press Operator in the complete operation and production of a flexographic printing press while ensuring quality standards and maintaining a clean work area.

Responsibilities

Assumes full responsibility for the complete operation and production of the press, including the quality of all printed material
Understand basic printing terminology, press components, and general understanding of their use
Responsible for the cleanliness of the presses and surrounding areas
Demonstrate ability to stage press components for upcoming job, including sleeves, anilox, ink, and film staged
Demonstrate ability to verify plate numbers and compare against item specification sheet
Responsible for maintaining required levels of materials (ink, film, etc.) to keep press running efficiently
Responsible for the print quality including, print position, correct copy, UPC codes, register, and impressions
Responsible for accounting for all film used and/or returned during shift
Places roll tickets and weights on each roll. Maintains accurate records in Shop Floor computer
Returns all inks, plates/sleeves, film, etc. to the proper locations with proper identification upon completion of an order
Learns the functions of the Press Operator; the Press Assistant could be called upon to fill in during the absence of a Press Operator
Can effectively train probationary level Press Assistant
Demonstrate ability to locate and properly follow packout instructions to meet customer requirements
Demonstrate ability to stand in for operator during breaks to monitor press run, identify defects, and stop press to prevent excessive waste
Demonstrate the ability to properly clean the drum, nip rolls, and chill roll
Demonstrate ability to properly acknowledge dr blade chamber condition
Perform other duties as directed or requested by Shift Leader or Production Manager

Preferred

You are mechanically inclined and have experience using hand tools
Are able to read and follow both verbal and written instructions
Have prior manufacturing experience, preferred but not required
Have a stable work history, excellent attendance and safety record
Are able to stand for long periods of time, able to lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive movements, etc
