Interventional Radiology Technologist I or II - League City Campus (M-F Days up to 19.99 hours/wk)
UTMB Health is a healthcare provider seeking Interventional Radiology Technologists for their League City Campus. The role involves assisting physicians during various interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety, and delivering exceptional care while adhering to established standards and guidelines.

Optimizing protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors
Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique
Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level
Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly
Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures
Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies
Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects
Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends
Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed
Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate
Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered
Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies
Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner to prevent retro amendments
Participates in department projects or shared governance activities
Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual development as a technologist
Guides and mentors Interventional Radiology Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge, and abilities
Assists in the performance of Interventional procedures, using a wide variety of imaging equipment and specialty supplies
Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to include common and special diagnostic and fluoroscopic exams of complex nature
Identifies LEAN opportunities and WASTE, providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety
Assists with implementation and education of department based, safety initiatives and standards of practice
Leads departmental special projects, initiatives and/or shared governance activities
Qualification
Required
Associate's of Applied Science
Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program
0+ years of experience
American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R)
Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)
American Heart Association (BLS and PALS)
Interventional Radiology Technologist II: Associates of Applied Science
Graduate of an accredited radiology program
3+ years of experience
American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-R)
American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-VI) or American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT-CV)
Texas Medical Board certification (MRT)
American Heart Association (BLS and PALS)
Preferred
Interventional Radiology experience preferred
