Radiologic Technologist I - CMC - Estelle - Huntsville - PBL

Responsibilities

Promotes a positive work environment
Collaborates with all members of the patient care team
Uses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement
Utilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding
Proactive in responding to patient needs
Optimizes protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, collimation, physiology, procedure preparation, technical factors and appropriate use of lead markers
Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique
Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level
Performs diagnostic radiologic procedures to include common, special and fluoroscopy diagnostic exams of moderate complexity
Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)
Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly
Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures
Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices and policies
Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects
Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends
Performs imaging equipment quality control (QC) at required intervals to ensure all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use
Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e. medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate
Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time service is delivered
Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies
Troubleshoots equipment failures and reports such failures to the appropriate department, and notifies his/her manager
Maintains HIPPA compliance by protecting patient privacy
Maintains constant Joint Commission and/or ACA Readiness
Works in a high volume, stressful environment
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department
Performs related duties as required

Required

Associates of Applied Science
Graduate from an accredited radiography program
No experience required
Registered with American Registry for Radiology Technologist (ARRT-R)
Certified as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) by the Texas Medical Board
