UTMB Health is seeking a visionary Department Chair for the Department of Internal Medicine to lead its educational, scientific, and clinical programs. The Chair will provide overall leadership and management, ensuring optimal use of resources and fostering an environment conducive to faculty development and outstanding clinical care.

Provide leadership and direction in expanding clinical services within the division
Demonstrate aptitude for collaboration, innovation, and program development
Advocate for the university’s academic, clinical, teaching, and research missions
Exhibit effective written and oral communication skills and thrive in a team environment

Qualification

D.D./.Board-certified in Internal MedicineNationally recognized for scientific achievementNIH-funded researchMedical school hospital understandingEffective communication skillsCollaboration skillsLeadership skills

Required

M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree
Board-certified in Internal Medicine
Holds the rank of Professor or Associate Professor
Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in Texas

Preferred

Nationally recognized for scientific achievement
NIH-funded with a proven track record of research excellence
Comprehensive understanding of a medical school hospital environment
A working leader with a high awareness of today's academic healthcare landscape
Highly collaborative, with a strong focus on patient care
