Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Regional Drug Dependency Unit
Akicita Federal, LLC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for their Regional Drug Dependency Unit. The CMA will provide clinical and administrative support, assist with patient care activities, manage patient records, and ensure compassionate care for individuals undergoing substance abuse treatment.

Responsibilities
Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and other patient data
Assist licensed staff with clinical procedures such as specimen collection, wound care, and immunizations
Administer medications and injections as delegated by the supervising provider and within scope of practice
Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the supervising nurse or physician
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records and electronic health systems
Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and assist with patient intake and discharge processes
Manage inventory of clinical supplies, ensuring proper storage and availability
Support compliance with billing and coding requirements for medical services provided
Provide patient education on prescribed treatments, medications, and recovery plans as directed by the provider
Offer emotional support and encouragement, helping patients engage in their recovery process
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and awareness when working with patients from diverse backgrounds, particularly Native American communities
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, confidentiality requirements, and facility policies
Follow infection control procedures, including hand hygiene and PPE use
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal healthcare standards and regulations
Qualification
Required
Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential from an accredited program
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (or able to obtain prior to hire)
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with facility and federal requirements
Preferred
Experience in behavioral health, addiction treatment, or similar clinical environments
Familiarity with IHS policies and Native American healthcare systems
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
