Responsibilities
Provides leadership, direction, and policy formation for successful academic programs and services that are responsive to students and community to gain the skill sets and knowledge to meet evolving workforce demands
Facilitates strategic academic planning activities. Provides direct support for academic committees and project oversight, including defining the scope and objectives of major initiatives, establishing timelines, evaluating progress, and ensuring communication and completion of high-impact academic and institutional projects
Mentors academic deans, empowering them as individuals and professionals to ensure that the programs of the college meet high standards of quality including regional and professional accreditation
Lead the administration's active engagement with faculty, playing a critical role in the support and elevation of faculty in teaching, creative activity, professional development, and service. Recommends faculty contracts to the President in conjunction with the continuing contract process
Serves as chief academic policy, program, and accreditation officer for the college. Ensures compliance with the provisions of all applicable federal and state regulatory standards, principles of accreditation, and adherence to college policies and procedures. Evaluates, revises, and develops policies and procedures
Provides leadership for the academic accreditation and assessment processes to improve academic endeavors of the College. Monitors accreditation issues and ensures that the College seeks and retains accreditations for all academic programs
Manages department budget and makes recommendations regarding financial needs in support of responsible sustainable programs. Ensures fiscal responsibility for use of funds allocated for educational programs. Works cooperatively with the grants and foundation offices to secure funding for emerging programs, curriculum development, and improvement
Establishes mutually beneficial cooperation with area educational entities
Represents the college, at federal, state, and local meetings, seminars, or conferences as appropriate and at professional organizations within the state, taking a leadership role where appropriate
Recommends retention, improvement, or deletion of courses and programs using assessment of student learning, operational efficiencies and enrollment trends
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree
Twelve years of increasingly responsible related experience, to include experience in higher education academic administration, supervision of academic programs, and teaching experience in higher education
Regional and programmatic accreditation and ensuring institutional compliance
Leading change and assessment of academic programs
Innovative curricular approaches to education
Microsoft Office Professional or similar application
Accreditation standards, quality assurance, and higher education regulations
Institutional planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, with the ability to align financial and operational resources with strategic academic priorities
Strong leadership and team development skills, including the ability to recruit, coach, supervise, evaluate, and inspire staff while fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, collaboration, and professional growth
Integrated academic planning, with the ability to lead complex, multi-unit processes informed by institutional data, research, and environmental analysis
Strategic thinking, including effective planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, tracking results, and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances, context, and data
Creative thinking and problem solving to explore new technology, processes, and approaches
Work effectively in a large multi-campus environment, collaborating across academic and administrative units and engaging stakeholders and institutional decision-making
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service
Lead, manage and implement change management through collaboration
Organize and prioritize multiple competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness
Develop and deliver presentations to culturally diverse groups from all social, educational, and economic backgrounds
Promote and cultivate a collaborative environment among faculty, students, staff and administrative departments
