Responsibilities

Preparing structural design calculations, plans and contract documents in accordance with applicable design and agency standards (i.e. AASHTO, ACI, AISC, SCDOT, etc.)

Development of bridge plans using Bentley MicroStation

Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/designer; including bridge inspections

Performs basic calculations to analyze and design structural components using industry standard software

Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity

Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions

Assist in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices

Required

Currently enrolled in a civil engineering or related degree program

Ability to work individually on smaller projects and as part of a team on larger projects

Familiarity with structural design calculations, plans, and contract documents

Knowledge of applicable design and agency standards (i.e. AASHTO, ACI, AISC, SCDOT, etc.)

Experience with Bentley MicroStation or similar design software

Ability to perform field work, including bridge inspections

Basic knowledge of calculations to analyze and design structural components using industry standard software

Willingness to assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity

Ability to collect data and gather information to support design decisions

Basic understanding of applicable codes and engineering standards and practices
