Data/Software Architect
MIT Lincoln Laboratory is focused on leveraging biological datasets to address national security needs. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced data/software architect to drive architecture solutions and innovations for data science enabling platforms and decision support tools, while also leading teams and providing technical oversight.

Responsibilities
Drive architecture solutions and innovations to enhance and develop data science enabling platforms and decision support tools
Drive the development of data engineering pipelines to deliver national large-scale curated and harmonized data resources
Stay abreast of current technologies, investigate pros and cons of solutions, and prototype
Serve as a principal investigator for projects, lead teams, define research plans, and provide technical and management oversight
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or related scientific field or equivalent experience in technical analysis. In lieu of a Ph.D., a master's degree with 5+ years of directly related experience will be considered
Demonstrated ability architecting big data solutions. Experience with biological data and developing solutions in AWS, data lakes/data warehouses a plus
Familiarity with distributed systems and designing a modern distributed stack
Familiarity with data technologies in areas of data integration, data curation and harmonization
Familiarity with large databases / datasets, with a mixture of relational and not-relational data. Experience with performance tuning a plus
Experience with data science and machine learning techniques to help with automation
Functional expertise in building microservice architectures and methodologies
HPC experience – Multi-threading, CUDA, Spark processing
Experience deploying cloud native applications using containers, Kubernetes/Kubeflow
Data modeling and database design experience, both SQL and NoSQL
Ability to work collaboratively and lead small to medium team of software developers and data scientists to execute your vision and software architecture
Demonstrated skills in scientific writing, as well as development and clear presentation of technical materials to a wide spectrum of technical and non-technical audiences
