Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Quantum Research Scientist for their Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA. The role involves developing and testing novel calibration and optimization tools for Quantum Error Correction on large scale quantum processors, leading high-impact research projects, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers.

Responsibilities
Develop and test novel calibration and optimization tools for Quantum Error Correction on large scale quantum processors
Be a technical leader on a team of engineers and scientists at the frontier of quantum processor control and error correction
Develop & lead high-impact research projects that intersect with our engineering roadmap
Qualification
Required
PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent degree in a similar field
5+ years of experience as an experimentalist in quantum computing
In-the-lab experience calibrating multi-qubit systems
Expertise in common qubit benchmarking and tomographic protocols (e.g. randomized benchmarking)
Proficient in a scientific programming environment
Experience successfully delivering on projects as part of a cross-team collaboration
Preferred
Expertise in superconducting qubits, cavity/circuit QED, and microwave control of superconducting circuits
Familiarity with implementing quantum error correction (QEC) circuits on hardware
Experience with automated quantum processor bring-up and optimization for QEC applications
An ability to simulate simple quantum systems
