Civil/Structural Designer

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of civil and structural related design for multiple projects, providing support to engineers and designers while ensuring compliance with building codes and project objectives.

Responsibilities

Design and computer drafting of building systems, foundations, and/or structural steel
Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering design packages which include detailed construction plans, drawings, and material lists
Participate in project coordination with the electrical, civil/structural, and architectural disciplines
Assist assigned engineers and designers in the resolution of technical engineering and design challenges
Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from coworkers, clients, vendors and obtain information from field visits
Meet Schedule requirements for engineering deliverables
Ability to perform multi-tasks and perform multidisciplinary coordination
Create designs for systems in existing and new facilities
Receive direction from engineering personnel and apply efficiently and accurately to design drawings or drawing modifications to meet the project objectives
Receive mark-ups and sketches provided as guidance from engineering personnel and/or clients and generate drawing plans, details, and sections to a final construction level of detail
Work closely with customers and associates to provide cost-effective designs based on the requirements of various building codes and fire codes

Required

5+ years of directly related technical experience
Knowledge and proficiency of CADD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation and their related products)
Knowledge of 3D modeling (BIM) software packages
Ability to create new, and to revise drawings
Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making
Show strong verbal and written communication skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, vendors, and the public at large
Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products
Perform other related assignments as required
On-site experience and familiarity with industrial sites and facilities such as electrical substations, power plants, gas/oil processing/transmission/storage facilities, and/or factories, etc. Must be willing and able to visit such facilities as part of project assignments
Must be safety focused and familiar with typical PPE practices at industrial facilities and sites
Must possess a valid driver's license to drive to client sites and between branch offices. Nationwide Travel may be required from time to time. Expected travel is less than 5%

Preferred

Associates Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, architecture, or a closely related field
3-D Modeling using Revit or other BIM related Software such as Bentley OpenRoads
Knowledge of industry design standards and codes
Field surveying and site walkdown experience
US Citizen or the ability to work in the US without sponsorship
