Senior Principal RF Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Architecture development, requirements analysis, hardware design, hands-on testing of components, circuit card assemblies, and subsystems
Design and development of transmitters, receivers, or exciters
Design and optimization of RF circuits – either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.)
Working with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc
Schematic capture and RF routing
Technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities
Cost and schedule management plus proposal writing

Required

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10 years' of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' of prior work experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test
Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics' Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB)
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Experience working in design, from concept through production
Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications
Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, which includes yield and margin analysis
Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges
Experience in technical writing and oral presentations
Technical background in any of the following areas: Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning, Filter design and fabrication, Circuit card assembly and fabrication, High speed data converter test / characterization, Low Noise RF source design and test experience
