Intern - Transportation/Construction Engineering (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is offering summer internship positions in Transportation/Construction Engineering through the Department of Transportation. Interns will assist with various projects including grading, concrete paving, and bridge construction, while also learning about material testing and inspection processes.

Responsibilities
Interns will be assigned to a variety of projects ranging from grading, concrete paving, asphalt surfacing and bridge construction
Their duties will consist of assisting the project technician and engineering staff with sampling and testing of the materials incorporated into the project along with inspection of the process conducted for construction of the project
Their duties may also include assisting the survey crew
The interns will learn the process required for conducting source documentation for payment of the quantities of material incorporated into the project and work conducted for construction of the project
Duties are primarily performed outdoors and may be physical in nature
Qualification
Required
Applicant must be a current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in upcoming semester or in the immediately preceding semester
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
