Genomics Computational Systems Biologist
Goldbelt Apex LLC is a data-focused company dedicated to process and quality in healthcare IT. The Genomics Computational Systems Biologist develops computational pipelines to analyze genomic and proteomic data for infectious disease research and supports multiomics data workflows in pathogen discovery.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain data pipelines for NGS and proteomics workflows
Integrate and visualize multiomics datasets
Assist in systems biology modeling and data interpretation
Work closely with lab scientists to support experimental design
Document pipeline code and support reproducibility standards
Provides laboratory and scientific support to perform computational and analytical tool development, comprising the ability to construct high-throughput analysis pipelines for multiomics data, and to integrate with in-house databases
Works with scripting languages (Perl, Python, R, etc.), programming languages (Java, C++), manages large -omics data sets (genomics, proteomics, etc.), works with databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.) and transports data between systems
Runs analytical workflows for standard -omics data sets. Maintains analytical pipelines code, open-source tools installations and maintenance
Works with both technical and non-technical personnel in multiple fields of expertise
Reviews Standard Operating Procedures and workflows in accordance with applicable policies
Qualification
Required
Programming skills in Python, R, and Unix/Linux environments
Familiarity with genomics tools (e.g., STAR, TopHat, BWA)
Understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
Excellent documentation and team collaboration skills
Possess strong background in bioinformatics and adept in multiomics data management
Must have knowledge of bioinformatics programming design, modification and implantation, knowledge of open-source application and data security concepts and methods
Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline
Minimum 2+ years in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field
Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information, is required
Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required
Preferred
ACTIVE SECRET is preferred
Master's degree preferred
May have experience in Proteomics, Genomics, High Content Imaging and academic research environment
Preferred ability to use next generation sequencing open source tools such as BLAST, STAR, TopHat, CuffLinks, BWA, GATK and other multiomics applications
