Responsibilities
Design and build new cloud services from the ground up
Enable development teams by driving design of major service components
Work with engineering managers and TPMs, providing direct guidance to junior team members
Go from high level system design to hands-on prototyping and code reviews
Drive engineering peer reviews and project bootstrapping
Automate and instrument services to improve developer experience
Instill a culture of operational excellence and high quality
Qualification
Required
6 to 10+ years of experience in software engineering
Experience with the design of major features and launching them into production
Built and operated high-scale public cloud services
Deep understanding of control plane architecture
Ability to work independently on most projects and tasks
Extend technical leadership to development teams
Drive design of major service components
Work with engineering managers and TPMs
Provide direct guidance to more junior team members
Ability to go from high level system design to hands-on prototyping
Write architectural documentation
Drive engineering peer reviews
Conduct code reviews
Project bootstrapping
Ability to balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements
Motivate teams to make process and service improvements
Ability to automate and instrument services
Understand operational excellence and instill a culture of high quality and customer focus
