Responsibilities

Evaluate radioactive materials, tooling, and equipment to determine packaging requirements for NPI-7
Develop and implement new packaging processes for future shipping needs
Keep current on regulatory requirements and emerging technologies associated with packaging and transportation of radioactive materials
Assist in the development of technical products such as procedures and reports
Set direction and goals for well-defined tasks involving more than one person
Lead specific project tasks to meet scope, schedule, and budget
Provide peer review of the work of others across organizations or disciplines
Develop mentoring skills to mentor junior staff and peers in technical and professional growth

Required

Working knowledge in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electrical, mechanical, nuclear or another R&D engineering field
Demonstrated knowledge of underlying principles related to radioactive decay processes, interaction of radiation and matter, and radiation protection
Demonstrated knowledge of the process for integrating safety into work practices by addressing all types of hazards to ensure safety for workers, the public, and the environment
Strong skills and initiative in organization, planning, teamwork, customer interactions, and interpersonal communications
Demonstrated ability to work productively on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation combined with 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience directly related to the occupation
Demonstrated ability to develop technical products such as technical procedures and reports
Demonstrated experience in conducting engineering work while complying with ES&H requirements and using appropriate administrative controls, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment and while following conduct of operations principles
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Demonstrated work experience with packing and unpacking shipping containers used for transportation of radioactive materials
Demonstrated understanding of leak test methods and experience working with leak test equipment
Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and production of detailed mechanical drawings
