Responsibilities

Measure distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts
Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations
Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications
Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing
Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation
Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction
Record quantities of materials received or used during specified periods, develop pay estimates and change orders
Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports
Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously
Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

Qualification

Professional Engineer (P.E.) licenseConstruction Engineering experienceCivil Engineering degreeTransportation Engineering experienceCollaborative problem-solvingSafety-first mindsetCommunication skills

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited university is required
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
Minimum of 4 years' professional experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection
A safety-first mindset
Strong writing, listening and communication skills

Preferred

4+ years of Transportation Engineering experience with state DOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects
ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state DOT certification are recommended, but not required
Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts
Ability and desire to lead
