Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

Analysis, design, and detailing of structural steel and reinforced concrete dam structures
Foundation design including pile caps, mats, footings, and substructures
Structural design and detailing of work platforms, underground structures and excavation support systems
Modeling, analysis, design, and detailing of unconventional structures
Structural value engineering, design review, constructability review, and risk assessment
Erection engineering and global stability analysis, controlled demolition
Preparing technical documents including reports, calculation packages, and construction specifications
Contribute to the development of project proposals and budgets
Conducting precondition surveys and construction inspections
Coordinating with CAD Designers on the development of Contract Plans

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus
At least 5 years (7+ preferred) directly relevant experience in a design environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in the design and detailing of steel connections and reinforced concrete
Knowledge of relevant structural engineering design and detailing software (RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA, etc.)
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines
Regular field work and overnight travel
Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel

Preferred

Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural)
Professional registration as a Professional Engineer in California (P.E.)
Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete dam structures
The ability to sit for the NCEES 16-Hour Structural Engineering exam within two years of hire
Knowledge of design collaboration software (Bluebeam Studio), and operation of CAD/VDC/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
Knowledge of general numerical modeling tools
Experience working within the construction sector or performing design work for contractors/construction managers
Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers
