MANAGER OF PROGRAM OPERATIONS - ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES

The University of Washington is a leading academic medical center dedicated to improving public health. They are seeking a Manager of Program Operations for the Environmental Services department to provide leadership, develop policies, and ensure compliance with health standards in a high-acuity patient care environment.

Responsibilities

Develop programs and create policies and procedures that support best practices and comply with all regulatory requirements including Department of Health (DOH), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Department of Ecology requirements
Research national best practices using available resources such as the Studer Group, Professional Housekeepers Association, Practice Green Health, and contract companies; perform outreach as necessary to other regional and national hospitals to learn new areas of focus and best practices
Oversee and develop specialized procedures and policies that address terminal cleaning, floor care, the use of chemicals, equipment and training of the Xenex ultra violet light technology
Procedures and policies must address normal day-to-day activity and operations, emergency and disaster response scenarios, and when the hospital exceeds capacity
Provide professional leadership and direction for a 24/7 operation of EVS staff; effectively lead and manage change in a demanding, unionized, and high-risk/high-acuity patient care environment
Direct staff activities to ensure all regulatory and organizational requirements are in compliance, including performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and terminations
Ensure the department maintains appropriate documentation, perform regular inspections, cleaning audits and waste/biohazard manifest records as required by regulatory organizations

Healthcare housekeeping managementSenior management experiencePolicy developmentRegulatory complianceCommunication skills

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or equivalent experience related field
Minimum of 4 years in senior management experience in the housekeeping field
Healthcare housekeeping management experience highly preferred
Supervisory experience to include performance management and team development experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements
