Senior Electrical Designer | Commercial Interiors | Denver, CO

Responsibilities
Lead the analysis and design efforts for electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
Work as part of a project team to support the execution of fast-paced consulting projects within the commercial interiors and tenant improvement market
Lead efforts in project planning, scheduling tasks, and managing multiple projects at once to meet various project deadlines and objectives
Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended
Analyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
Proficient in renovation projects to include the evaluation and re-use of existing electrical systems
Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, and specifications. Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering
Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work. Identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
Identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager
Oversee projects through construction administration phase and provide clients with solution-based communication
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems design for buildings
Proficient with industry standard engineering software and tools including lighting photometric calculation software such as AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or other; power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW, Easy Power, or other; and energy compliance software such as ComCheck. Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
Proficient with the use of reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
Knowledge of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS, BIM software, and CTC Revit Add In Tools; Proficiency of Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit for electrical calculations, coordination, properties, etc
Ability to think, work, and make design decisions quickly to meet fast-paced deadlines
Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of development and design
Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry with demonstrated experience in the commercial interiors and tenant improvement markets
Preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
Associates degree, or certificate in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
6 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
